Michelle Bertho MICHELLE BERTHO is Program Coordinator at the Institute of European Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. She taught "The Enlargement of the European Union in International and Area Studies" at the University of California, Berkeley and previously at San Francisco State University. Her current research is on private funding and development. Before joining the academic world, Bertho was an international consultant and worked extensively in Europe, the United States, and Africa.
