Each year a committee of librarians from the New York Library Association (NYLA) prepares a distinguished list of reference sources to be designated NYLA Best of Reference based on their usefulness in libraries of the New York State. This year, Latino Chronology: Chronologies of the American Mosaic (Greenwood Press, 3/2007) and The Encyclopedia of African American Women Writers (Greenwood Press, 1/2007) are among those titles.

On the day the list is published, the committee presents humorous and poignant sketches celebrating these outstanding selections at one of the participating libraries in New York State. We also extend the invitation to the authors, editors, and publishers of the sources being celebrated. This year, the Queens Library will be hosting this event, on April 29.
